Glory to Arstotzka. Now decide who gets to go home.
The game makes you the small cog in an unjust system: each stamp is reasonable on its own, yet together they can split families or send someone back to danger, and your own family goes hungry if you bend the rules.
Papers, Please is a 2013 puzzle-simulation game by Lucas Pope. You play a border inspector in Arstotzka, a fictional totalitarian state in 1982, checking travellers' documents against rules that change daily and deciding whom to admit, deny or detain. Your small wage must cover rent, food and heat for your family, and debt ends the game.
Windows, macOS and Linux (Steam, GOG), iPad, iPhone and Android; also PS Vita.
Heads up: Pixel-art violence and terror attacks.
