The day the orca show stopped feeling fun.

Who it's for

Many people watched Blackfish and thought about the happy afternoons they spent clapping at an orca show.

What it is

Blackfish tells the story of Tilikum, an orca captured as a youngster off Iceland in 1983 and later kept by SeaWorld, and the deaths linked to him, including that of trainer Dawn Brancheau in 2010. Through former trainers, experts and archive footage, the film argues that captivity itself harms orcas and endangers people. SeaWorld refused to take part and disputes the film's claims.
