Don Henley and Glenn Frey's ballad addresses a hardened loner who keeps everyone out, gently urging him to accept love before it's too late.
"Desperado" is a ballad written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley and the title track of the Eagles' second album, Desperado (1973). Henley began it in 1968, and he and Frey finished it in 1972; it was recorded in London with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Never released as a single, it nonetheless became one of the band's best-known songs, helped by Linda Ronstadt's cover.
