Joe Pera: Slow & Steady
Not every comedy special has to be loud. Some just sit with you, slow and steady, until your brain finally quiets down. 🌙
Who it's for
Pera's slow, grandfatherly delivery and sincere wonder at ordinary things lower the emotional temperature instead of spiking it.
Feelings it meets
What it is
Joe Pera's first stand-up special, directed by Marty Schousboe with music by Ryan Dann, released for free on Pera's website and YouTube channel on 6 October 2023. Pera self-funded it and built it from his 18-month world tour. The 56-minute hour mixes jokes and crowd work and closes with an extended, meditative wind-down routine that gradually widens from one couple to an entire sleeping city.
Where to find it
Free official release on Joe Pera's YouTube channel (and his website). Streaming availability rotates; check JustWatch.
