Some songs don't just remind you of childhood. They feel like it. 🟩

Who it's for

Sweden is the best-known Minecraft piece, so for many listeners it is tied to hours of safe, unstructured play; familiar media like this is a common self-soothing strategy.

What it is

"Sweden" is an ambient instrumental by C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld) from the 2011 soundtrack album Minecraft – Volume Alpha, and it was one of the first tracks he made for the game. It is a passacaglia, a changing melody over a repeated bass line, that opens with soft piano chords. Strings join, pizzicato strings later carry the melody, and glockenspiel and harp close the piece.
