What it is

"Le onde" is the title track of Ludovico Einaudi's 1996 album Le Onde (Italian for "The Waves"), his first solo piano album, released on Sony Classical and based on Virginia Woolf's novel The Waves. The roughly five-minute piece is slow and flowing, with a right-hand melody over long, repeating left-hand arpeggios. Its sections repeat and shift key before a coda closes the piece.
