'I play tennis for a living, even though I hate tennis.' Agassi said the quiet part for everyone living out their parents' dream. 🎾
Agassi opens by admitting he has always hated tennis, which gives readers who are trapped in a path someone else chose a startling permission to say the same out loud.
Open is Andre Agassi's 2009 memoir, written with Pulitzer Prize-winning author J. R. Moehringer. Agassi reveals that despite his success he has long hated tennis, and describes a childhood in which his father pushed him to hit thousands of balls a day from a machine called 'the Dragon,' followed by being sent at 13 to a Florida tennis academy he experienced as a prison camp.
