A bank robbery. An apartment viewing. A room full of people all pretending they're fine. 🐰 Spoiler: nobody is, and that's kind of the point.
A desperate first-time bank robber blunders into an apartment viewing and ends up with a room full of hostages, each of them quietly overwhelmed: a couple about to become parents, retirees whose marriage has gone stale, a banker haunted by a suicide, an elderl.
Fredrik Backman's novel (Swedish original Folk med ångest, 2019) begins with a failed robbery at a cashless bank, after which the would-be robber flees into an apartment viewing and inadvertently takes the prospective buyers hostage.
