"Skinny Love" is a song from For Emma, Forever Ago, the debut album of Bon Iver (Justin Vernon), self-released in 2007 and recorded at his father's remote cabin in Wisconsin after the breakup of his band. Vernon said the song describes a phase in a relationship when you stay because you need help, which he did not consider a good reason to stay.
