"Words Get in the Way" is a ballad by Miami Sound Machine from the 1985 album Primitive Love, released as a single in 1986. Gloria Estefan wrote it after an argument with her husband Emilio Estefan, the group's leader, who produced it. It reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the group's first No. 1 Adult Contemporary single.
