What it is
"No Scrubs" is the lead single from TLC's 1999 album FanMail, written by Kandi Burruss, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle and producer Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, with Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas on lead vocals. The song rejects men with little money, ambition or romantic effort, and popularized "scrub," Atlanta slang for an unsuccessful person. Cottle has said it drew on one of her own past relationships.
