What it is
"Pageant Material" is the title track from Kacey Musgraves's album Pageant Material, released in June 2015 through Mercury Nashville. She wrote it with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. Musgraves called it a satirical song that pokes fun at herself and her own imperfections, using the imagery of a retro-style beauty pageant. It fits the album's wider critique of superficial judgment.
