What it is
"Stay with Me" is a gospel-inspired ballad by Sam Smith from their 2014 debut album, In the Lonely Hour. The narrator pleads with a one-night stand not to leave. Smith said the song captures the lonely moment after a casual encounter, when the other person leaves and the narrator wishes they would stay. The choir-like refrain was made by Smith layering their own voice many times.
