Re: Stacks
For the end of a long, lonely winter ❄️
Who it's for
Much of For Emma, Forever Ago was recorded while Justin Vernon spent months isolated in a Wisconsin cabin, and this closing song feels like the thaw.
Isolated and heavy→Lighter and returning
Feelings it meets
What it is
"re: Stacks" is the closing track of Bon Iver's debut album For Emma, Forever Ago, self-released in 2007. Justin Vernon wrote and recorded much of the album alone over a winter in a hunting cabin in Wisconsin. According to Wikipedia, the song concerns a difficult period of gambling Vernon went through.
