Some of us survive by telling the story a certain way. That doesn't make it less true. 🐅
Pi loses his entire family in a single night, and the film turns the aftermath into an extraordinary survival story that is also a meditation on how people carry trauma.
Life of Pi is Ang Lee's 2012 adaptation of Yann Martel's novel, framed by a writer listening to the adult Pi Patel tell his life story. Pi grows up in a zoo in India, explores several religions, and develops a fascination with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. When his family emigrates to Canada, a storm sinks their ship, and Pi survives 227 days in a lifeboat with the tiger before reaching Mexico.
