"Futile Devices" is the opening track of Sufjan Stevens' 2010 album The Age of Adz, released on Asthmatic Kitty. Stevens wrote and produced it, and it is a gentle piano and acoustic-guitar piece. The song is commonly read as being about the gap between feeling deep love for someone and being able to say it. A remix by Doveman was later made for the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name.
