What it is

"Mr. Brightside" was one of the Killers' first songs: Dave Keuning wrote the music before meeting Brandon Flowers, who added the lyrics and chorus, and the band demoed it in 2001. Flowers wrote it from the jealousy and paranoia he felt after finding his girlfriend with another man in a Las Vegas bar.
