Paul McCartney wrote it after dreaming his late mother came to comfort him during the Beatles' tense final period.
"Let It Be" is a song by the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney, released as a single in March 1970 and as the title track of the album Let It Be. McCartney said the idea came from a dream in which his mother, Mary, who died in 1956, comforted and reassured him. It was recorded in January 1969 during the Get Back sessions.
