What it is
Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game created largely by one developer, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, and released in 2016. The player leaves a corporate job to take over their late grandfather's run-down farm just outside Pelican Town. Gameplay includes clearing land, growing seasonal crops, raising animals, fishing, mining and foraging.
