Starting Over
Starting over doesn't mean you failed. It means you're still fighting for yourself. 🔁
Who it's for
Macklemore describes relapsing after years sober, including the shame of slipping while people saw him as a sobriety role model; that honesty directly counters the secrecy that shame breeds.

What it is
"Starting Over" is a track by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis from their 2012 album The Heist, with a sung hook by Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses. In it, Macklemore talks about relapsing after a period of sobriety and how hard it is to admit this to fans who saw him as a role model. The song moves toward finding the courage to recommit to recovery.
