Who it's for

Few songs bottle the feeling of the final bell like this one: the snarling riff and gang-shouted chorus are pure, giddy release.

What it is

'School's Out' is the title track and only single from Alice Cooper's fifth album, released on Warner Bros. on 26 April 1972. Cooper described it as capturing 'the last three minutes of the last day of school'. It spent three weeks at number 1 in the UK, reached number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015. It remains the band's signature song.
