For the bonds that outlast the battle 🎸
Dire Straits' title song is widely known as a soldier's reflection on comradeship and the futility of war.
"Brothers in Arms" is the closing track of Dire Straits' 1985 album of the same name and was released as a single that year. Mark Knopfler wrote it in 1982, the year of the Falklands War, and it is generally described as an anti-war song. In 2007 Knopfler re-recorded it to raise funds for British veterans of that conflict, and it is often played at military funerals.
