Solange and Sampha use hair as a symbol of identity and self-ownership, quietly refusing to let others touch or define it.
"Don't Touch My Hair" is a 2016 song by Solange featuring Sampha, from her third studio album, A Seat at the Table. It centres on Black women's hair and bodily autonomy, treating hair as a statement of personal identity and pushing back against others policing or devaluing it. The music video, directed by Alan Ferguson, features many hairstyles, including Marcel waves, afros and braids.
