Working up the nerve to say hi 💌
Tevin Campbell sings as a shy teen working up the nerve to talk to someone he likes.
"Can We Talk" is the lead single from Tevin Campbell's 1993 second album, I'm Ready, written and produced by Babyface and Daryl Simmons. It is about a teenage crush: the narrator and a girl are both too shy to speak, they go their separate ways, and he keeps thinking about her and plans to start a conversation next time. Babyface aimed for genuine emotion suited to the 16-year-old singer.
