Seger wrote this coming-of-age tale from his own early-1960s teenage romance and the adult memory of it.
"Night Moves" is the 1976 lead single and title track of Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band's album Night Moves. It is a coming-of-age story about adolescent love and how an adult later remembers it. Seger based it on his own early-1960s teenage romance with an older woman who eventually went back to her boyfriend in the military, and said the film American Graffiti prompted him to tell his own story.
