What it is

"A Certain Romance" is the closing track of Arctic Monkeys' debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, released in January 2006; an early version appeared on the 2004 demo collection Beneath the Boardwalk. Alex Turner wrote it as a teenager, drawing on what he saw of the young people around him and the romance, or lack of it, among them.
