Behind every face, a story 💙
The Who's classic gives voice to someone whose outward image hides a lonely, misunderstood inner life.
"Behind Blue Eyes" was written by Pete Townshend and released in 1971 as a single from The Who's album Who's Next. Townshend wrote it for his unfinished Lifehouse project as the theme of the story's villain. It is a first-person lament from a character who sees himself as a good person cast as the villain, anxious and angry under the pressures and temptations around him.
