What it is

"Cold War" is the second single from Janelle Monáe's debut studio album The ArchAndroid (2010), a fast new wave and funk-rock track that Monáe co-wrote and co-produced. Critics have read it as being about an inner struggle beneath an upbeat surface. The album follows Monáe's android alter ego Cindi Mayweather, and Monáe has said the record taught her to embrace what makes her unique.
