What it is

"Wings" is the debut single from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's album The Heist, released as a digital download in January 2011. It uses sneakers as its central example to look at how people seek identity through consumerism and attachment to brands and logos. Macklemore drew on his own childhood obsession with basketball and athletic shoes and the negative effects it had on him as he grew up.
