Wearing black for everyone left behind 🖤
Cash explains that he wears black as a protest against the treatment of poor people, mass incarceration, and the Vietnam War.
"Man in Black" is a 1971 protest song by Johnny Cash, released as a single in March 1971 and as the title track of his album Man in Black. In it, Cash explains why he wears his signature black clothing on stage and uses it to criticise the treatment of poor people, mass incarceration, and the Vietnam War. Conversations with Vanderbilt University students during a visit prompted him to write it.
