What it is
"Try Again" is a 2000 single by Aaliyah and the lead single from the Romeo Must Die soundtrack, written by Static Major and Timbaland and produced by Timbaland. It began as an inspirational song before its lyrics were reworked into a love theme with the same melody and hook. The finished song urges someone who has been turned down not to give up and to keep trying.
