"Shut Up and Dance" is a synth-driven pop rock song by Walk the Moon, the lead single from their 2014 album Talking Is Hard. Frontman Nicholas Petricca was frustrated one night at a Los Angeles party at The Echo when his girlfriend suddenly asked him to dance, which inspired the song.
