Merry Go 'Round
Same town, same story. Time to step off? 🎠
Who it's for
Musgraves uses the merry-go-round as a metaphor for small-town self-entrapment, where people marry young and repeat the same patterns.

What it is
"Merry Go 'Round" was the lead single from Kacey Musgraves's debut album, Same Trailer Different Park, released in September 2012. It was written by Musgraves, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. The song offers a skeptical view of small-town American life, reworking the nursery rhymes "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" and "Jack and Jill" in a modern setting.
