The kids in this film don't need to talk faster. The world needs to listen longer. 🗣️💙
For people who stutter, the heaviest part is often the avoidance and shame that grow around speaking, and this film tackles that directly by putting kids who stutter together with peers who share the experience.
Ryan Gielen's documentary, scripted by Steven Sander, centers on SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young and its summer camp for school-age children who stutter, founded by Taro Alexander, who stutters himself. Most of the film takes place at the camp, where young people meet others who stutter, take part in activities such as theater, and build support networks.
