Nobody hands you a manual. Ted burned the French toast the first time. By the end he could make it with his eyes closed. 🍳
Ted begins as a father who knows almost nothing about his son's daily life, and the film lets us watch him learn it in small, concrete routines.
Robert Benton's drama, adapted from Avery Corman's novel, follows Ted Kramer, a New York advertising executive, after his wife Joanna leaves their marriage. She also leaves behind their seven-year-old son, Billy. Ted, who has been largely absent from home life, has to learn to care for Billy while keeping up with a demanding job, and father and son slowly adjust to each other.
