Even witches lose their magic sometimes. Kiki didn't need to try harder. She needed rest and a reason of her own. 🧹
Kiki starts out bright and determined, but her new independence quietly turns into proving herself: every delivery becomes a measure of whether she belongs in the city.
Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli film, adapted from Eiko Kadono's novel, follows Kiki, a 13-year-old witch, who leaves home with her black cat Jiji on a coming-of-age journey. She settles in the port city of Koriko and starts a flying courier service on her mother's broom. As self-doubt and loneliness set in, she loses her ability to fly and to understand Jiji.
