When it feels like the worst, it's okay to say so 🧩
Rather than pretending divorce is fine, the book says out loud that it can feel like the worst, and lets a child's big feelings be real.
Divorce Is the Worst is a 2015 picture book written and illustrated by Anastasia Higginbotham, the first in her Ordinary Terrible Things series. Told from a child's point of view and illustrated with collage, it follows a kid through the shock, anger, sadness and brief hope of their parents' divorce, speaking directly and honestly without talking down to young readers.
