What it is

"Shannon" is a 1976 single by Henry Gross from his album Release, about the death of a beloved pet dog. It was inspired by a conversation with the Beach Boys' Carl Wilson while Gross was touring with the band in 1975, when Wilson told him his own Irish Setter named Shannon had recently died.
