What it is

"It's Been Awhile" is the lead single from Staind's 2001 album Break the Cycle. Frontman Aaron Lewis wrote it around 1996 and returned to it during the album sessions in 2000. The song centers on a narrator who blames himself for losing someone who could have helped him and who sees himself repeating a self-destructive cycle.
