Who it's for

Jay-Z argues that fame and wealth don't exempt Black people from racism, and pairs that with blunt advice about building lasting wealth.

What it is

"The Story of O.J." is a track from JAY-Z's 2017 album 4:44. Named after O.J. Simpson, it questions whether wealth and fame can rise above race and contrasts spending on luxuries with building lasting wealth. It samples Nina Simone's "Four Women," and its animated music video, co-directed by JAY-Z and Mark Romanek, depicts racial stereotypes associated with African Americans.
