Separate ways, big feelings 🎹
Journey's arena-rock anthem is about two people going separate ways while still caring for each other.
"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" was written by Jonathan Cain and Steve Perry during Journey's 1982 Escape tour and released in January 1983 as the first single from Frontiers. It is about a breakup, moving from pain and anger toward a note of hope. According to Songfacts, it was written while band members Neal Schon and Ross Valory were going through divorces.
