What it is
"Growing Sideways" is the tenth track on Noah Kahan's 2022 album Stick Season. Kahan has said the song draws on his time in therapy, his unhealthy coping habits and his healing, including his experience coming off antidepressants. He has also said he worried it might send a "false message", because for years he had used therapy language without really engaging with it.
