"When Love Takes You In" is the eighth track on Steven Curtis Chapman's 2001 album Declaration. Chapman wrote it for his newly adopted daughter Shaohannah, whom the family brought home from China as an infant, and he has said he wept while writing it. The adoption was one of the high points of the emotional period that shaped the album.
