What it is

"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" is a ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell and recorded by The Hollies, whose version was released as a single in September 1969. The title phrase comes from an old anecdote about a child carrying a larger boy and saying he is not heavy because he is her brother; Boys Town later adopted a version of the phrase as its slogan.
