What it is
"Mercy Now" is the title track of Mary Gauthier's album Mercy Now, released on Lost Highway. Gauthier has described it as growing out of her father's Alzheimer's, when his helplessness moved her from years of anger toward compassion. Only the first verse concerns her father; later verses extend mercy to her brother, her church and her country.
