Springsteen's anthem is about young people in a dead-end town desperate to break out together.
"Born to Run" is the title track of Bruce Springsteen's 1975 album, released as a single in August 1975. Its first-person narrator writes a love letter to a girl named Wendy and urges her to escape with him. Springsteen has said that at its core the song is about escaping Freehold, New Jersey, the town he grew up in, and it is set to a dense, wall-of-sound-influenced rock arrangement.
