What it is

"Home" is a folk-rock single by Phillip Phillips, written by Drew Pearson and Greg Holden. It was released in May 2012 as his coronation song after he won American Idol season 11 and later appeared on his debut album The World from the Side of the Moon. Holden said he wrote it for a friend going through a very difficult time, to tell them someone was there for them.
