The quiet at the end of a long goodbye 🌫️

Who it's for

The final track of a series portraying dementia, it moves through organ drones to a clear choir from a worn record, followed by silence representing death; critics read it as terminal lucidity.

What it is

"Place in the World fades away" is the final track (about 21 minutes) of Stage 6 of The Caretaker's Everywhere at the End of Time, released on 14 March 2019 to conclude a six-stage project portraying the progression of dementia. Organ drones give way to a needle drop and then to a choir sampled from a worn vinyl record, a performance of an English translation of a Bach aria from the St Luke Passion.
