An album about a hospice worker falling apart while caring for someone who keeps hurting him. For anyone who loved someone who couldn't love them back right.
The album tells the story of a hospice worker caring for a patient dying of bone cancer at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and critics widely read that story as a metaphor for an emotionally abusive relationship.
Hospice is the third studio album and first concept album by indie rock band The Antlers, which produced it. It was self-released in March 2009 and reissued, remastered, by Frenchkiss Records that August. Set at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, it follows a hospice worker and a patient with terminal bone cancer whose relationship declines as her illness, fears and trauma take hold.
