What it is
"Hero" is an inspirational ballad by Mariah Carey, written and produced with Walter Afanasieff and released in October 1993 as the second single from Music Box. It is about the inner strength people have to be their own heroes, even when they feel discouraged. The song was first written for the 1992 film Hero before Carey kept it for herself.
